Art Club Live Gartic Phone Game

Berra, Student Ambassador in Turkiye, is running the Art Club and found that participants really enjoyed the idea of this game, and opened the event up to the global HGS Community.

For this week’s live event, we decided to play Gartic Phone. I chose this game because I wanted something fun, low pressure, and easy for everyone to join. Not everyone feels confident about their drawing skills, so this felt like a safe and playful option.

The way the game works is simple: someone writes a short prompt, another person draws it, someone else guesses it, and at the end we see how the idea changed along the way. What made it really interesting was watching how a small, simple idea slowly transformed into something completely different.

Some prompts were very basic, like a cat with sunglasses or Rapunzel with a duck. But by the end of the round, those ideas had turned into dramatic weather superheroes or emotional characters with full personalities. It was funny, but also really nice to see how differently everyone thinks and imagines.

There were moments where the drawings were messy, chaotic, and completely unexpected, and that was the best part. It reminded us that art doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful or enjoyable. The atmosphere felt relaxed, and since cameras weren’t required, people seemed more comfortable participating.

One of the drawings that made us laugh was Rapunzel with a tiny chick on her head. The long hair and the random little chick detail made it unexpectedly funny, and it really captured the chaotic energy of the game!

This is how the game went:

We started off with a prompt for "A very, very cute and elegant cat." I love how this turned out because the artist didn't just draw a random cat; they gave it so much personality! With those big, expressive eyes and that perfectly curled, fluffy tail, you can really feel the "elegance" coming through the screen. It looks like a little noble kitten waiting for its treats!!

The quack-punzel!! This was definitely the highlight of our session! The prompt was "a duck, but the duck is a Rapunzel." Honestly, who would have thought of a duck with floor-length orange hair? Seeing this little duckling sitting in its stone tower with flowers braided into its long mane made us all laugh. It’s such a quirky, imaginative mashup that shows how "random" our humor can get. 🫶

"A duck, but the duck is a rapunzel."

"Humanized strawberry." I think this is such a cool concept. The artist captured the "strawberry-ness" perfectly by giving her a bright red, seeded face and using the green leaves as a trendy hairstyle. She looks like a character straight out of a whimsical cartoon, and it was so fun to see a fruit come to life like this💗💗

"Humanized strawberry."

This prompt was simply "A cat cooking," but the artist turned it into a moment of pure joy! I love how happy this cat looks while working on its meal. With a big pink heart floating in the air and a cheerful "yey" written on the side, you can tell this cat is the most positive chef in the world. It’s so simple yet so funny
